YouTube thumbnail guides

26 guides

Written by the ThumbnailMaker team, on four things: the sizes and upload rules YouTube actually enforces, what a good click-through rate is, how to design a thumbnail that reads at 168 pixels, and how AI generation works under the hood. Every number is checked against YouTube's own pages and dated. The terms behind them are defined in the thumbnail glossary.
